Cover Reveal: Only in Fairy Tales

There are some stories that arrive quietly.

They don’t announce themselves with grand gestures or sweeping declarations. They simply begin with two people meeting at the right moment in their lives and discovering that perhaps the things they thought were behind them are not quite finished after all.

Today, I’m delighted to reveal the cover of my latest novel:

ONLY IN FAIRY TALES

A contemporary, later-in-life romance set in Monmouth, Wales.

Nia is fifty-three, divorced, and entirely convinced that she has become invisible.

After years of being loved like an old habit, she has absorbed her ex-husband’s indifference so completely that she has stopped expecting anything different. Romance, she has decided, belongs to younger women, prettier women, more interesting women. Certainly not her.

Then she meets Gareth in the ruins of Monmouth Castle.

Gareth is fifty-seven, divorced, and carrying a very different kind of regret. Once a museum curator, he spent eleven years emotionally absent from his marriage—and it took losing his wife for him to understand what that absence had cost.

Nine years later, he knows exactly what he doesn’t want to do again. And he has absolutely no intention of pretending he isn’t fascinated by Nia. Especially when he discovers the way she looks at old places.

The details in the stonework that other people walk straight past. The history hidden in weathered walls. The stories that seem to linger in places long after everyone who lived them has gone.

Nia has always believed that the kind of love that truly sees a person exists only in stories.

Gareth intends to prove her wrong.

Only in Fairy Tales is a story about being seen.

About discovering that being ordinary is not the same thing as being unremarkable.

About two people who have both learned, in very different ways, what emotional absence can cost.

And perhaps most of all, about the possibility that love doesn’t have an age limit.

Because sometimes the fairy tale doesn’t begin when you’re young.

Sometimes it begins when you’ve stopped looking for it.

Only in Fairy Tales is coming soon.

And yes—there is a castle involved.

Just don’t expect the usual kind of fairy tale.

Happy reading, and thank you for being part of this journey with me! 💙

September

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. There's a particular quality to September light that I've always loved — the way it slants golden through the trees earlier each afternoon, catching the first hints of amber in the leaves before they've fully committed to changing. The air holds that undecided feeling of a season mid-turn, warm enough to sit outside with a cup of tea but cool enough to want a cardigan close to hand. The hedgerows...

Hello August

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. August arrives with that particular quality of light that belongs only to itself — golden and thick, slanting longer and lower each evening as though the sun is reluctant to let go of summer. Here in the Welsh Pagan calendar, the first of August is Gŵyl Awst, the festival that marks the turning of the harvest tide. The wheel hasn't tipped into autumn yet, not quite, but there's a knowing in the...

G?yl Awst

Hey Reader. We've reached the height of summer, and yet Gŵyl Awst carries within it the first whisper of change. Celebrated on the 1st of August, Gŵyl Awst is the Welsh festival of the first harvest; a day to give thanks for what the land has produced, to acknowledge the abundance around us, and to sit with the quiet knowledge that the wheel is already turning. The sun is at its strongest, the fields are golden and heavy, and still the days are shortening. Gŵyl Awst holds both of those truths...
