Tides & Turning Points: April Newsletter

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up.

Hey Reader.

April is a month that moves. Tides shift, seasons turn, and the world leans fully into the warmth it has been promising since February. In old folk traditions, this was a time of threshold crossings and fresh starts, when anything planted, whether in soil or in the heart, had the best chance of taking root. And this April, I have some very exciting turning points of my own to share! ๐ŸŒท

๐Ÿฃ Easter Blessings Wishing you all a wonderfully happy Easter! Whether you are spending the long weekend with loved ones, curled up with a good book, or hunting for chocolate in increasingly unlikely places, I hope Good Friday and Easter Monday bring you plenty of rest, joy, and sweetness. ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒธ

Anyway, what else has happened since last we spoke, and what's coming up? Let me tell you... ๐Ÿ’™

The big news, the moment I have been working towards for so long, is finally here. Still Waters, Deep, the first book in the Between Hill and Sea series, releases on the 17th April!

This story has been so close to my heart, and sending it out into the world feels equal parts terrifying and wonderful. If a contemporary fantasy, magical realism romance sounds right up your street, I would love for you to give it a read. And if you have already signed up to the ARC list, thank you so much. Your support truly means everything. ๐Ÿ’™

Still Waters, Deep has been with my editor and Critique Partner, and things are moving along beautifully. If you have not yet had a chance to read Talise's interview over at Archaeolibrarian โ€“ I Dig Good Books, do pop over for a peek at the story and an exclusive excerpt! ๐ŸŒŠ

They say the lake answers when the moon burns blue.

In the shadowed water of Llyn Du, hydrologist Talise Calder comes searching for scientific truthโ€”and finds a man shaped from water, memory, and an ancient sorrow. When a red thread of fate binds them together, a quiet, aching love begins to surface.

But the lake does not remain still. As its waters rise and old vows stir beneath the surface, Talise is drawn into a bond that defies time and asks for sacrifice, yet never demands what love should not freely give.

To choose him is to step into a destiny woven by Ariandwyn, the ancient goddess who waits between hill and sea and remembers every promise spoken at the waterโ€™s edge.

Tender and haunting, Still Waters, Deep is a standalone novel in the Between Hill and Sea series, steeped in Welsh folkloreโ€”where love is gentle, magic is old, and the waters remember every name.

On the 14th April, Bridge of Bones, the third book in the Brodyr Alarch series, celebrates its very first birthday! It is hard to believe a whole year has passed since this book made its way out into the world. If you have not yet had a chance to read it, what better excuse than a birthday to pick it up? I would love to hear your thoughts if you do. ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ“–

๐Ÿฃ 3rd April โ€” Good Friday

๐Ÿ‡ 6th April โ€” Easter Monday

๐ŸŽ‚ 14th April โ€” Bridge of Bones Book Birthday

๐ŸŒฟ 15th April โ€” National Laverbread Day

๐ŸŒŠ 17th April โ€” Still Waters, Deep Release Day!

The 15th April is National Laverbread Day, a wonderful celebration of one of Wales's most beloved and distinctive delicacies. Laverbread, made from seaweed harvested along the Welsh coastline, has been a part of Welsh culture for centuries, and it feels like a quietly perfect little date to mark given the coastal heart of so much of my writing. Raise a toast to the sea!

Hello August

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. August arrives with that particular quality of light that belongs only to itself โ€” golden and thick, slanting longer and lower each evening as though the sun is reluctant to let go of summer. Here in the Welsh Pagan calendar, the first of August is Gลตyl Awst, the festival that marks the turning of the harvest tide. The wheel hasn't tipped into autumn yet, not quite, but there's a knowing in the...

G?yl Awst

Hey Reader. We've reached the height of summer, and yet Gลตyl Awst carries within it the first whisper of change. Celebrated on the 1st of August, Gลตyl Awst is the Welsh festival of the first harvest; a day to give thanks for what the land has produced, to acknowledge the abundance around us, and to sit with the quiet knowledge that the wheel is already turning. The sun is at its strongest, the fields are golden and heavy, and still the days are shortening. Gลตyl Awst holds both of those truths...

Hello July

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. July arrived the way it always did, warm and unhurried, with the hedgerows heavy and the evenings stretching long past supper. This was the month of Ceridwen's cauldron, when the old stories about transformation and quiet endurance felt closest to the surface. It's a good month for slow magic and for finishing what had been started in spring. Anyway, what else has happened since last we spoke, and...
