The Book Birthday Sale for SLIPPERS AND SONGS Begins Today

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up.

Hey Reader.

Today marks the beginning of something rather special.

From 14th February to 18th February, SLIPPERS AND SONGS is on sale at most major retailers (apart from Amazon) in celebration of its Book Birthday on the 16th.

I always find Book Birthdays a little magical. They offer a moment to pause and look back at where a story began, and at how far it has travelled since first stepping into the world. SLIPPERS AND SONGS was the novel that opened the door to the Brodyr Alarch series, weaving together The Twelve Dancing Princesses with the rich, haunting threads of Welsh mythology.

At its heart is Princess Tesni, bound by a relentless curse that compels her to dance each night in the Otherworld. She longs not merely for freedom, but to be seen as more than a prize awaiting rescue. When Prince Brenin is summoned to break the enchantment, what unfolds between them is not a tale of conquest, but of patience, quiet strength, and growing understanding beneath moonlit branches. Taliesin’s riddles, ancient magic, and the fragile beginnings of love shape a story that means a great deal to me.

Putting the book on sale for these five days is my way of celebrating its journey and inviting new readers into Holmfirth. If you have been curious about the Brodyr Alarch series, or if you know someone who loves fairytale retellings steeped in myth and romance, this is the perfect moment to begin.

The Book Birthday Sale runs from 14th February through to 18th February, after which the price will return to normal.

In the realm of Holmfirth, far from Melthkior, Princess Tesni finds herself ensnared in a curse that compels her to dance tirelessly through the night. She must navigate a delicate balance between her royal responsibilities and the ceaseless rhythm of her relentless dance. Tesni yearns to be perceived as more than a coveted reward to be claimed for breaking the enchantment.

Summoned by Tesni’s father, Prince Brenin finds himself irresistibly drawn to Tesni’s captivating personality and quiet strength, by the genuine beauty that emanates from her. In the velvety embrace of deepest night, Brenin becomes Tesni’s silent guardian, accompanying her to the realm of the Otherworld. There, he answers riddles posed by the mysterious Taliesin.

Will Brenin uncover the secrets that tether Tesni to her unending dance, winning not only her freedom but also her heart? Will the silent whispers of their burgeoning affection be allowed to grow? Or will Tesni remain forever entwined in the dance of the Otherworld that holds her captive?

Slippers and Songs is a Twelve Dancing Princesses fairytale retelling and the first book in the Brodyr Alarch series, where Brothers Grimm stories entwine with the fascinating mythology of the Welsh Gods.

Until next time, take care and happy reading! 💙

Hello April

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. April is a month that moves. Tides shift, seasons turn, and the world leans fully into the warmth it has been promising since February. In old folk traditions, this was a time of threshold crossings and fresh starts, when anything planted, whether in soil or in the heart, had the best chance of taking root. And this April, I have some very exciting turning points of my own to share! 🌷 🐣 Easter...

Spring Equinox - The Woman Made of Flowers

Hey Reader. Today is the spring equinox, and in Welsh it carries a name that feels like the thing itself: Cyhydnos y Gwanwyn, which translates roughly as the equal night of spring, that particular turning point in the year when the hours of light and dark finally balance before the long slow tipping towards summer. There is something in that equilibrium that has always felt significant to me, a held breath before the world rushes forward. The equinox carries a second Welsh name alongside...

Hello March

Time to catch up on what's been happening this past month, and see what's coming up. Hey Reader. Firstly, my apologies for the late arrival of this month's newsletter. I was under the weather last week and completely out of action! Thank you for your patience. On a brighter note, spring is very much in the air here in my little corner of Germany. The dark mornings are finally giving way to light, and I have a feeling the worst of winter is behind us (though I'm whispering that, just in case I...
